Reihonna-- I was pretty excited for this ice cream. I have never had it, but it seems pretty popular and sounds awesome: cake batter, frozen. Yum. In reality this ice cream was a little too intense for me. It tasted more like buttercream frosting than cake batter to me and was far too sweet. It was very rich and buttery like cake batter, but it was sweeter than the frosting that I have been known to eat out of the jar. I actually scraped half of my ice cream into the garbage because I couldn't eat it all. The flavor was good, but could use about half as much sugar. It would be better with some other flavors instead of all by itself. Maybe a scoop and strawberry and a scoop of cake batter. Something like that.
Scale of 1 to 10: 5
Would you order it again: Yes, but not a whole cone. Just one scoop with other things
Would you recommend it to a friend? Yes. Well, at least to my mother. My mom would eat this stuff by the tub. But she also eats frosting by the tub.
Ian- Cake Batter is completely digusting ice cream flavor. A more cost effective solution would be buy a 12 oz can of butter based frosting from a can and spoon that into a cone. Or maybe save even more money and just pour domino sugar right into the cone. You wouldn't be able to get that domed shape on top, but you could achive that with a Land O Lakes tub and an ice cream scoop. Then you would have both of the sophisticated taste sensations that are subtley hinted at with this flavor.
Scale of 1 to 10: 1
Would you order it again: No, I'd just lick a sugar cube and a butter tab alternately.
Would you recommend it to a friend? If my friend was a migrating hummingbird; yes.
We are tasting and rating ice cream! Yum!

Cake Batter seems like an odd choice of flavors, who eats cake batter? I bet cookie dough will be a winner.(coming up after all the chocolates)
ReplyDeleteUhhh, hellooooooo. How can you go this long without ice cream??? I had the Graham cracker ice cream the other night...sweet but good! July 25th, the Northfield location has $1 cones. You can try two that day!!!
